Testimonials

"The Tougles has changed my life and allowed me to eat solid foods again, something I never thought I would be able to do." I lost half my tongue to cancer, and my flap shrank to the point it pinned my tongue to the floor of my mouth. The Tougles paired with my prosthesis have allowed me to get my life back and get my feeding tube out. I can now eat just about anything I want. If you are questioning whether or not to try it, go for it. It will change your life and give you so many opportunities to eat things you didn't think you would eat again. My name is Kelly, I'm 36, and I had tongue cancer twice in two years. I lost half my tongue, had a forearm free flap and a double neck dissection done, along with a feeding tube placed, which I had for a year but had removed thanks to the Tougles and my sheer determination. Fortunately, there is new hope for head and neck cancer survivors with oral dysphagia. In my nine years in practice as an academic head and neck surgical oncologist, I have not been aware of any recently developed devices to assist patients with this problem. However, last year, my patient, Angilee Wilkerson, created an assistive eating device after undergoing a surgical procedure to remove her entire oral tongue and part of her base of tongue. Angilee’s invention made it possible for her to transition from a liquid diet fed through a feeding tube in the stomach to eating solid foods by mouth again.  Her life is almost back to normal!
